Tan Toi Chia is a principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ Singapore office. A member of the CEO & Board, Industrial, and Financial Officers Practices, he also leads the Transport and Logistics Practice in South East Asia.

Toi Chia’s work with clients includes leadership advisory and senior executive placements of board members, strategic advisory, CEOs and CFOs. He works closely with companies and organizations based in Singapore and South East Asia, as well as those that are building or strengthening their presence there. His clients include government-linked organizations, multinationals, and private and family-owned businesses.

He is passionate about supporting clients to focus on leadership in order to transform their businesses and accelerate performance, enabling them to strategically and tactically address challenges driven by disruption, disintermediation, and pervasive change.

As a proven commercial leader, Toi Chia built a career with two blue chip leaders in the transport and infrastructure sectors. His experience saw him specialize in strategic and organizational change, startup, business and partnership development, sales, marketing, and communications. At PSA, one of the world’s leading port operators, Toi Chia successfully led the greenfield startup of PSA’s container terminal on the Panama Canal, from securing the concession to commencement of operations. Prior to Heidrick & Struggles, Toi Chia was a key member of the senior leadership team at dnata in Singapore.

He has lived and worked in Singapore, Seattle, Panama and Genoa. Toi Chia is fluent in English and Mandarin, and has basic language skills in Spanish.


Toi Chia earned a bachelor of science (first class honors) in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
