Melvin Lee is a principal in Heidrick & Struggle’s Singapore office. He is a key member of the Industrial, Automotive and Chemicals Practices.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Melvin was an associate partner at a retained search firm in Singapore where he executed senior leadership searches for clients in solar, electronics, manufacturing, data storage, and management consulting.
Before joining search, Melvin spent 12 years with Johnson Controls Inc. in the industrial sector spanning automotive, building technology, HVAC, energy management systems, construction/real estate, and security and fire safety. He has served in global leadership roles in North America and Asia Pacific across functions, including engineering, program management, strategy, corporate development, and mergers and acquisitions. The last position Melvin held at Johnson Controls was Asia lead for global strategy and M&A.
Melvin also spent two years in strategy consulting and general management through his own venture to a Middle Eastern architectural and urban planning company based in Saudi Arabia, a real estate development company based in Indonesia, and also served as general manager and strategy lead for a Singapore Exchange-listed restaurant group in Singapore.
Melvin has full professional proficiency in English and is fluent in conversational Mandarin and Cantonese.
Melvin holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering with a minor in economics from Purdue University and a master’s of business administration from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He also holds an executive certification in M&A from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a diploma in executive leadership coaching.
