Overview

Maryam Shahabi is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ New York office and a member of the global Consumer Markets, Consumer Products, Retail, and Marketing, Sales, & Strategy Officers practices.

Experience

Maryam works with companies of all sizes and ownership structures, including publicly traded corporations, privately held companies, founder/owner companies, and private equity and venture capital firms. She focuses primarily on sales, marketing, e-commerce, and general management roles.

Maryam has worked across a broad range of industry verticals with a focus on fast moving consumer goods, beauty, lifestyle, and retail. She also conducts cross-border assignments for European companies that are looking to build or expand their North American businesses and with North American companies that are establishing a larger footprint in Europe.

Having spent half of her life in Europe and half in North America, Maryam is uniquely positioned to assess for culture fit in different regions of the globe.

Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, Maryam worked for four years at Bloomberg News, producing interview segments with business and government leaders for Bloomberg shows including “Taking Stock with Pimm Fox.” Before Bloomberg, Maryam gained broad experience as a production associate at ABC News, a research associate at Yale University’s political science department, and as a paralegal at corporate law firm, Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson.

Maryam’s global background enables her to guide clients in assessing candidates’ cultural fit, and compatibility with a given organization. She is fluent in French, English, Persian, and Spanish.
