Overview
Harry O’Neill is a partner emeritus in Heidrick & Struggles’ Madrid office. He has held various leadership roles in the firm, including leading the Financial Services Practice in Asia Pacific & the Middle East for more than seven years and leading the CEO & Board of Directors Practice in Hong Kong for three years. Most recently, Harry led the human resources function in the region, driving its people agenda with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion.
Experience
During his nearly three-decade career, Harry completed numerous high-level human capital assignments, encompassing C-suite, financial services, and board functions. He now focuses on recruiting consultants for the firm's offices and practices in APAC and the Middle East.
Harry started his career in banking, working with JP Morgan in London before joining the trading team at Allied Irish Bank. In addition, he worked in Kuwait, Singapore, and Sydney, latterly for Deutsche Bank.
Philanthropy and Service
Harry is a former board chair of the Association of Executive Search Consultants and its Asia Pacific council. He has been extensively involved in Irish community organizations in the region and served as honorary consul of Ireland to Hong Kong from 2006 until the establishment of the country's first consulate general in Hong Kong in 2014.
Harry co-founded and, for six years, was the global co-leader of Pride@Heidrick, an LGBT employee resource group that works to advance LGBT leadership worldwide. Harry served as co-dean of the firm's Dare to Lead leadership development program from its inception until 2023.
