Overview

Jim Penny is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Chicago office and a member of the Consumer, Private Equity, and Financial Officers practices. He conducts global senior-level assignments in a variety of consumer industries including retail, products, hospitality, and services. He works with Fortune 500 client companies as well as with private equity firms to find talent for their portfolio companies.

Experience

Jim spent four years at another global executive search firm before joining Heidrick & Struggles. Prior to his career in executive search, Jim gained Wall Street experience working in equity research at Merrill Lynch. He previously worked for Amoco Oil Company, where he helped manage the company’s tanker fleet and served as an internal consultant working on supply chain issues.

Jim spent five years at Pacific Cargoes in Washington, D.C. arranging freight shipments under foreign aid programs and top-secret shipments for various branches of the military.
