Sharon Sands is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ London office and the global head of Leadership Assessment, Development and Coaching for Heidrick Consulting. She designs and manages some of the firm’s largest global leadership performance programmes.
With more than 20 years of experience as a leadership consultant and executive coach, and a deep understanding of behavioural complexity in organizational systems, Sharon’s combined depth of knowledge in behavioural sciences and her commercial background, helps leaders shape the organisations they lead and accelerate performance. She works closely with Heidrick & Struggles’ Healthcare and Life Sciences Practice as well as CEO succession and acceleration programmes across all sectors.
Following a successful career in the engineering sector primarily focused on process re-engineering, Sharon’s passions for process and for performance through people motivated her to retrain in behavioral sciences. As a result of this training, she was invited to lead the learning and development function for retail in a prestigious automotive organization, achieving recognition as the global leader in sales and leadership development.
Sharon then set up and ran a successful behavioral change consultancy for 12 years, working with FTS100, PE, and some SME clients in pharmaceuticals, finance, technology, automotive, health, and government, designing award winning development initiatives. She is proud to say that many of those clients are now Heidrick Consulting clients, having transitioned Co Company into Heidrick & Struggles vie acquisition in early 2016.
Sharon continues to contribute to the field of coaching and leadership development. She has been a research board member for the EMCC and provides pro-bono coaching for the New Entrepreneurs Foundation (NEF). Sharon is currently supporting the largest global empirical research project to date on behalf of the Harvard Medical School on the impact coaching has on performance.
Sharon holds an MSc in executive coaching and a post-graduate degree in advanced organisational development supervision from Ashridge Business School. She is a master practitioner in neuro-linguistic programming, a certified team accelerator practitioner, and holds diplomas in behavioural sciences and performance coaching. She is certified in a neuroscience-based psychometric tool, proprietary Heidrick & Struggles assessment tools, and is a certified Hogan assessor.
