Overview

David Burd is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Washington, D.C. office and regional managing partner of the Corporate Officers Practice in the Americas. He is a member of the Legal, Risk, Compliance, & Government Affairs Practice, focusing on chief legal officer, general counsel, and other senior legal and compliance roles across sectors.

Experience

David is a leader and frequent speaker on legal recruiting, law department structure, operations, and talent assessment and management in this context.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, David had a diverse career, enabling him to bring a unique perspective to his client work. He practiced at the law firm of Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C. and was general counsel of a venture-backed technology start-up. He was a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, working with clients in the public sector and the healthcare and life sciences space.

David served on the Presidential Transition Team in 2008-09 and later worked in government at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, focusing on issues of data sharing and synthesis across the agency. Most recently, he was the general manager of Uber in Baltimore and much of Maryland.

He is a member of the State of New York and the District of Columbia Bar.
