Overview

David Burd is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Washington, D.C. office and a member of the Legal, Risk, Compliance, & Government Affairs Practice. He focuses on general counsels and other senior legal, compliance, and government affairs leader, particularly in the healthcare and life-sciences, technology, and social impact sectors.

Experience

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, David had a diverse career in law and government, working in both healthcare and technology. He practiced at the law firm of Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C., and was general counsel of a venture-backed technology start-up. He was a consultant at McKinsey & Company where he worked with clients in the public sector and the healthcare and life sciences space.

David served on the Presidential Transition Team in 2008-09, and later worked in government at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, focusing on issues of data sharing and synthesis across the agency. Most recently, he was the general manager of Uber in Baltimore and much of Maryland.

David is a member of the bar of the State of New York and the District of Columbia.

Philanthropy and Service

David currently serves as a board member and former board chair for the Millennial Action Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the partisan divide through working with millennial lawmakers.
