Overview
Doug Orr is the partner in charge of Heidrick & Struggles’ Houston office and a member of the global Energy Practice, which includes oil and gas, power and utilities, and alternative and renewable energy. He advises clients in both publicly traded companies and private equity-backed organization clients on recruiting non-executive directors, chief executive officers, senior P&L leaders, and chief financial officers within the energy industry.
Experience
Doug conducts assessment, succession planning, executive coaching for both individuals and teams, and culture-shaping services. He previously led the Global Energy Practice.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Doug worked at another global executive search firm where he was a member of the global energy and financial officers practices, completing multiple executive-level engagements including CEO, COO, and CFO searches within the industry.
Doug served as a combat engineer officer in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than ten years. During this time, he held multiple command and staff positions, deploying four times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq) and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan).

An active member of his community, Doug currently serves on the board of directors for Eyes On Me, Inc., a faith-based non-profit focused on community transformation within poverty-stricken areas of Houston. He serves on the advisory council for the Energy Workforce & Technology Council, the national trade association for the global energy technology and services sector, representing more than 650,000 U.S. jobs in the technology-driven energy value chain.
