Private capital compensation trends in Asia Pacific: 2017
Conducted in November and December of 2016, Heidrick & Struggles’ fourth annual edition of this survey features compensation trend data from 210 professionals across the region working in local and global platforms. This year’s survey includes compensation data from 2014, 2015, and 2016 as well as data on expected compensation development in 2017. In addition to overall pooled data, we analyzed responses by strategy across buyout, growth, real assets, fund of funds, and special situations. For the first time, we have included data from venture capital professionals.
In this year’s survey, just less than one-third of respondents reported an increase in base salary in 2016, compared with roughly half in 2015. Fewer respondents anticipated increased annual bonuses than in recent surveys, as well. The subdued compensation environment came on the heels of a challenging year for private equity investing in the region.
